The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Maui Land gains
Maui Land & Pineapple Co. led an otherwise gloomy, holiday-shortened week for the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index with a slight 0.9 percent gain to close Thursday at $42.23.
Central Pacific Financial Corp., which recently absorbed the former City Bank, was the only other company with a gain in the week. The bank rose 0.3 percent to close at $34.40.
Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., which trades over the counter, trailed the index with a loss of 11.5 percent. It closed at just more than a penny.
