HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
Kahuku, KS-Hawaii
fall in poll
In the most subtle of ways, the voting panel speaks clearly.
While No. 1 Punahou again dominated the minds of voters in the Star-Bulletin Girls Basketball Top 10, the panel expressed slight disappointment with Kahuku and Kamehameha-Hawaii.
Defending champion Konawaena and upstart Maryknoll follow Punahou.
Kalaheo, meanwhile, leaped past Kahuku into the No. 4 spot.
The Lady Mustangs won their first two league games, including a 42-41 nail-biter over Farrington.
The Red Raiders slipped to No. 5 despite a tough win at Kaiser and a victory at Moanalua.
Hilo vaulted to No. 9 after a bye week, while KS-Hawaii slipped to No. 10 after a 61-34 nonleague loss at Konawaena, a game in which point guard Amber Carter (ankle) did not play.
