OUR PICKS THIS WEEKEND

Short attention span eater! Chinatown's Little Village Noodle Shop isn't so little anymore. It took over the art gallery next door, breaking down the wall to add a private dining room that looks like a Chinese palace in miniature, accessible by a little foot bridge.
Yes, people are showing up to inspect the quaint addition, but you can't have the looks without the goods. The menu is lengthy and varied, ensuring a new experience every time for those easily bored. Newbies might start simply with the salt fish-flavored "Mother of all Fried Rice" ($7.25). For a variation on the usual eggplant and pork dish, try Little Village's version ($7.95), stirred with Chinese-style curry and cubes of tofu. And pyromaniacs must try the Volcano Porkchops ($10.95), salt-pepper pork with the element of fire. Watch your brows. Heh!

I'm always down to party for a good cause. Check out Reign Nightclub on Sunday as UH-Manoa's fashion design program hosts a fundraiser starting at 10 p.m. The $10 cover at this 18-and-over party will benefit the department's annual senior fashion show, "Menagerie: A collection."

Manoa Valley Theatre's production of "Cabaret" is this week's best bet in big scale musical theater. Andrew Sakaguchi gives a career-best performance as the Emcee, Louise South and Larry Bialock are excellent in key supporting roles, and director / choreographer John Rampage has never done better work bringing snap and sizzle to seductive dance numbers. There's another good reason to go this weekend if you can get tickets: The show has been extended, but tickets are $5 more for the added shows.

I'm finally going to see "Miss Saigon." I keep hearing good things about it so I have to see if what people are saying is true. And, the "Paint by Number" dance show (Page 4) looks interesting, too. I'm always up for something different.
