NEW KID ON THE BLOCKBorders plans 7th store in HawaiiBorders Books and Music plans to open its seventh Hawaii store, a 22,603-square-foot outlet at Pearlridge Center in Aiea.The store will include a Seattle's Best Coffee cafe. Borders also has locations at Ward Centre and Waikele Center and on Maui and Kauai. Borders Group operates more than 460 Borders superstores and about 700 Waldenbooks and Borders Express stores across the nation.
Cruises to offer interactive TVNorwegian Cruise Line said it will offer Freestyle interactive television programming on its new Hawaii cruise ship Pride of America, which will begin seven-day cruises in July.Passengers will be able to see video clips of onshore and offshore activities, port and shopping information and bars and restaurants. Passengers can also view dining menus, order room service and request wake-up calls by remote control.
Time-share club buys Maui homesA luxury time-share operation that offers million-dollar homes to members said it has bought another 28 homes for its collections, including two on Maui.Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs said it bought the properties in the past six months and the median price for the homes is $2.8 million. Membership requires a one-time refundable deposit from $295,000 to $495,000, plus dues and fees. Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart. A hearing was scheduled for March 25 at the NLRB office in Denver. Organizers of the unionization vote had hoped to establish what would have been the second union at a Wal-Mart store. Workers in Canada also are fighting the world's largest retailer to form a union.
