Ana Kia, 9, wins high
praise for her hula at
the Halekulani

HULA DANCER Kanoe Miller took time out from captivating guests with her silky-smooth moves at the Halekulani's House Without a Key to invite 9-year-old Ana Malia Kia up to dance on a recent evening. Ana's hula to "Waikiki" and "Ulupalakua" was so impressive that visiting guests asked her to pose for photos with Kanoe. Some even asked her for autographs and Ana was thrilled to oblige. Members of the trio joked about Ana taking over Kanoe's job one day. While in training, Ana dances with Kailua's Lehua Carvalho and halau Hula Kaulupua'a'Alaokalani. Her proud mom is Andrea Kia, a vice president of Home Quest Realtors. Ana's tutu is Henrietta Cypher-Kia, who danced hula at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in earlier years.
