The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Hawaiian ascends
Hawaiian Holdings Inc. was the only local stock that gained this week after subsidiary Hawaiian Airlines received court approval on a plan to exit bankruptcy April 1. Hawaiian Holdings' shares rose 2.1 percent to $6.78, its highest level in more than seven weeks.
Barnwell Industries Inc., the top performer in 2005 with a 43.5 percent gain, had the second-best showing as it slipped 0.1 percent to $53.20.
Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. brought up the rear as it fell 13.3 percent to 1.3 cents.
