Tabion leads Wahine to victoryShannon Tabion pitched a complete-game victory, giving up just two runs and no walks while striking out seven as the Rainbow Wahine defeated Cambell 8-2 yesterday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.Tara Harbert went 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored to lead the Wahine, who improved to 12-10 for the season. Holly Harris homered and doubled to lead Cambell.
Wang, Huang earn NCAA swimming berthsHawaii divers Qiongjie Huang and Rui Wang have qualified for the NCAA Swimming and Diving championships.Huang beat 2004 Olympian Blythe Hartley of USC by seven points in the 3-meter springboard at their zone championships at Oklahoma City yesterday. Huang scored 534.95 points while Wang scored 510.9 points to finish fourth to take the last spot. Miranda Maas, UH's only other diver in the competition, finished in 26th place. Justin Wilcox was Hawaii's only male diver to compete -- after Mats Wiktorsson injured his back and withdrew -- and finished 15th in the 1-meter springboard with 362 points.
Sceats leads Warriors past HuskiesRyan Sceats won his eighth straight singles match and the Hawaii men's tennis team shut out Bloomsburg 7-0 yesterday.Sceats beat Dan Gal 6-0, 6-0 and only two of Hawaii's six players were pushed to three sets. The Rainbow Wahine beat Bloomsburg 7-0 behind straight set wins by Sylvia Jaros, Justine Boutet, Kimberly Curtis and Paige Minor.
