Maharaj teams
with Booglemen

After a few months of in-house promotion, Maharaja Ultra Lounge's Peter Maharaj is teaming with an outside group to jumpstart Fridays at his Waikiki nightspot.

Boogiemen Entertainment will kick off "The Light" tomorrow at 10 p.m. for the 21-and-over crowd. Veteran waxmaster James Coles will be joined by DJs LX and Tez to keep things going until 4 a.m. Call 351-8599 for more info ...

ALSO HAPPENING in club land this weekend: Microscopic Syllables will play at thirtyninehotel tomorrow, with special guests Urbanatives and DJ Jahson the 45 Revolver joining in the rotation. Also planned are live artwork demonstrations by Young Tree Tattoo Studio, and don't forget -- thirtyninehotel finally got its liquor license ... On Saturday, you don't want to miss OM Records' Bassnectar at the Living Room. While it doesn't get too crowded early in the evening, this joint is off the chain after 2 a.m. ... One of my favorite musicians has a couple of gigs at Aloha Tower Marketplace this weekend. Check out Mike Times with Zanuck Lindsey, Michael Grande and Garin Poliahu at 6 p.m. Friday at Kapono's, or from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Gordon Biersch ...

I'VE GOTTEN initial word that Crystal Method will be in town March 20 at the O Lounge. They'll be here to promote the upcoming release "Community Service II," which is set to drop early next month. More details on this one next week ...

LADIES HAVE two chances to win a date with the man of their dreams this weekend.

Tomorrow night at the Ocean Club, the third annual "Burnin' Down the House" will feature two bachelor auctions (one at 8 p.m. and another at 11 p.m.) with local firefighters, police officers and lifeguards. Star 101.9's Hudson will host, and proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

On Saturday, the Honolulu Club presents "Ides of March," a firefighter dinner date auction to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. Winning bidders will get to dine with either Matt Belluomi, Jake Saber or Kamaki Worthington; Anita Hall and Nueva Vida will entertain. SATURDAY IS also a big night for the local transgendered community, with the "Miss Diva of Polynesia 2005" competition scheduled at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.

Tickets for the event range from $30 to $100, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Kulia Na Mamo, a non-profit organization that provides HIV prevention counseling, substance abuse programs and other social services in Honolulu. Call 791-2020 ...
