UH's Bender, Klinger nursing injuries

The Hawaii volleyball team started off its week preparing for nonconference opponent Ball State without two starters.

Junior hitter Matt Bender sat out yesterday's practice due to tightness in his back, while freshman middle Kyle Klinger sat out with a foot injury. Klinger had missed most of fall practice due to a stress fracture in the same foot (left) but indicated that the pain was different than that of the stress fracture.

The Warriors (11-4) try to end their two-match skid Friday and Saturday against Ball State (10-7) at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Cardinals have won their last four matches, all coming in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play.
