High schoolers graduate
THE St. Louis Players' production of "Aida," directed by Kyle Kakuno, was great Sunday. It's hard to believe that all the performers, except for Castle High School graduate Mahi'ai Kekumu, are only in high school. Tani Lynn Fujimoto opened and closed the musical with a solid execution of "Every Story is a Love Story" and the rest of the cast -- Leihoku Pedersen Ellsworth (Aida), Kekumu (Radames), Adam Cho (Mereb) and John Long (Zoser) were also superb. The cast was invited to represent Hawaii in Scotland's Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. Catch the performance while you can this weekend at Mamiya Theatre. Call 739-4862 or 550-8457 for tickets. For those who want to assist with trip expenses, contributions are being taken at 739-4862. ... I'm a huge fan of ABC's "Whose Line is it Anyway?" where the stars' ability to improvise scenes so quickly always amazes me. The improvisational troupe On the Spot brings the "Whose Line ..." concept to The ARTS at Marks Garage, where their attempts to bring audience suggestions to life gets everyone laughing. I can't wait to see their show this weekend, when the group challenges Loose Screws, another long-standing local improv troupe, Friday and Saturday. Interested in attending? Call 521-2903. ... |
