Red Cross drive beginsA "Hats Off to Red Cross" fund-raising drive kicked off today at Tamarind Park and will continue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow with donations collected at 12 locations statewide. March is Red Cross Month, and off-duty police officers, firefighters, civil defense, military and other volunteers are taking their hats off to collect donations and salute the Red Cross for helping the community. The kickoff events, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, included a celebrity jan ken po contest hosted by city Prosecutor Peter Carlisle, local personalities, live musical entertainment, food stations and educational displays. All funds collected will stay with the Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross to provide critical local services.
