Conradi's first homer of the year came after David Flores was hit by a pitch. Flores was sacrificed to second and Jim Strombach was intentionally walked.

The Rainbows squandered opportunities to win in front of 1,072 fans in the 11th and 12th innings.

Sacramento State tied the score in the ninth with an unearned run.

Conradi singled to center with one out. He moved to second when Josh Levin was safe at first when Darrell Fisherbaugh dropped the toss from first baseman Luis Avila.

After Pedro Santiago fanned, Brett Flowers grounded Fisherbaugh's pitch to center, scoring Conradi.

Fisherbaugh gave up a leadoff double to Matt Wilson in the 10th, but struck out Flores, got Ron Machado Jr. on a weak grounder to third and fanned Strombach.

Hawaii blew a marvelous chance to win in the 11th. Esteban Lopez was hit by a pitch from Marshall Plouffe. Pinch runner Andrew Castillo took third and Robbie Wilder was safe at first on a throwing error by Wilson, the Hornet catcher. Joe Spiers, already with four hits, was intentionally walked, loading the bases.

Plouffe bore down and fanned Schafer Magana looking and Isaac Omura swinging and ended the threat by getting Luis Avila on a fielder's choice grounder.

UH had another chance in the 12th when Matt Inouye reached second on an error by Conradi at third base and moved to third on Jonathan Hee's sacrifice. Plouffe again escaped trouble by getting Jose Castaneda to ground to second baseman Everet Rincon who threw home in time to get Inouye. Pinch hitter Jeff Piaskowski singled, but Plouffe caught Wilder looking for the third out.

The Hornets struck first on Flores' run-scoring single in the second inning. His hit to right plated Brian Blauser who singled and was sacrificed to second by Matt Wilson.

The 'Bows tied the score in the third on consecutive doubles by Spiers and Magana and took a 4-1 lead in the next inning.

Matt Inouye singled to center to start the fourth, took second on Rocky Russo's sacrifice and moved to third on an error by Wilson (obstruction called on the Hornet catcher who used his mask to play the ball). Castaneda walked. Inouye beat pitcher Matt Campbell's throw home and Castaneda took second on Esteban Lopez's sacrifice bunt.

Ryan Asato reached on a fielder's choice grounder up the middle. Lopez was out at second and Castaneda stopped at third. Spiers' line single to right scored Castaneda. When Conradi threw Magana's bunt single past first, Asato scored from second.

Avila singled to center to open the UH fifth and advanced on Inouye's sacrifice bunt. Castaneda's two-out double sent Avila home for a 5-1 lead.

Sacramento State closed to within one run and knocked Ricky Bauer out in the seventh. Bauer hit Machado to start the inning. Singles by Strombach and Conradi left Hornets at second and third after Machado was forced off third by Strombach's aggressive base running and tagged out.

Josh Levin drilled a one-strike pitch to the alley in right for a two-run double. He took third on a groundout after Guy McDowell replaced Bauer on the mound and scored on Flowers' bloop single to center.

Bauer was tagged for nine hits and four runs, all earned, in 6 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out six.

Note: Tournament ticket prices are $7 for seats in the blue and orange sections, $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students age 4-18 and UH system students in the red section.
