Ex-Pan Am Nisei
stewardesses to hold
50th reunion April 26

Fifty years ago Pan American World Airways hired its first Japanese-speaking stewardesses on a U.S. international airline for the Honolulu base and called them Nisei stewardesses. A few years later, Pan Am hired Chinese-speaking stewardesses for the Honolulu base. A 50th anniversary luncheon celebration will be held at 11 a.m. April 26 at Oahu Country Club for the Japanese-speaking and Chinese-speaking former stewardesses who were hired between 1955 to 1973. opera lovers who haven't seen the Hawaii Opera Theatre's "Turandot" should head for Blaisdell Concert Hall tomorrow night and catch the production. It is a gem. Corky honored by journalists on fun-filled night

Star-Bulletin editorial cartoonist Corky Trinidad's thank you after being inducted into the Honolulu Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists Hall of Fame Friday was brief, and, like his cartoons, to the point and meaningful. Included in his mahalo was mentioning his "lover and best critic," his wife, Hana. Howard Dicus was emcee. Chuck Frankel introduced Corky and laid out his background well. Society of Seven Leader Tony Ruivivar's wife, Karen, and her mom, Ethel Walker, were at Indigo before the SOS's opening Feb. 18. Karen proudly displayed photos of grandson Kainoa, 2 1/2.
