‘Dog’ stars film
at Waimea Bay

Comedian Tim Allen and Kristin Davis filmed the finale scenes of the remake of the 1959 Disney movie "The Shaggy Dog" on the beach at Waimea Bay yesterday. A Waikiki location had been considered. Cast and some 40 mainland crew stayed at the Ihilani Resort ...

"Nobody's told us" is the mantra being sung by Hawaii crew on ABC's "Lost," referring to a network exec's published comment that the series is staying here for season two. "We've been told nothing," said several crew who are "disappointed" about the exec's comments of difficulties with "existing collective bargaining agreements." "Is he saying we aren't worth what we make?" a crew member said. "Let's hope not." Several crew continue to challenge the network's "strategy" in bringing in so many mainland crew that spikes the budget "hundreds of thousands of dollars a month"...

ABC/Touchstone hopes to get the state's Hawaii Film Studio without a rental fee if Fox TV's "North Shore" series -- on hiatus since early December -- is canceled. That won't happen for at least a month, according to "NS" producer Harry Bring. "The network has extended its hold on the studio until April"...

Hawaii's Eric Byler, who directed "Charlotte Sometimes," is directing his first major independent feature "American Knees" beginning March 21 in Los Angeles for four weeks, and starring Chris Tashima, Kelly Hu, Joan Chen and Ben Shenkman. Producer is Lisa Onodera ("Picture Bride") ...

Ivan Sergei, who co-starred on the NBC canceled police drama, is headed to UPN's drama pilot "Triangle." Aya Sumika, another "Hawaii" alum, has joined the cast of ABC's "Introducing Lennie Rose"...

"The Land Has Eyes" has its commercial release here March 11 for a week at Dole Cannery multiplex. It's also being shown at the Paris and Ashland, Ore., film festivals. The film was written and directed by University of Hawaii professor Vilsoni Hereniko and produced by his wife Jeannette Paulson Hereniko ...

In Style magazine did a photo shoot with eight "Lost" cast members at co-star Evangeline Lilly's Kailua home.
