Oahu Dines to benefit
HIV/AIDS

Some Oahu restaurants are offering to donate part of their proceeds on March 30 to the Life Foundation to fight HIV/AIDS.

Olena Rubin, Miss Hawaii 2004, is helping to promote the Oahu Dines program through radio and public appearances and inviting restaurants to participate.

She has been volunteering with AIDS organizations since she was in high school, and awareness of the disease was her platform as Miss Hawaii.

The Life Foundation is Hawaii's largest AIDS organization, providing services to more than 600 HIV-positive men, women and children in Hawaii.

Cathy Pudwill, event coordinator, said, "We are thrilled by the immediate response from restaurants to Oahu Dines."

She said Big City Diner and Marbella Mediterranean have joined the program.

"Our goal is to promote the event heavily over the next few months to ensure a huge dinner turnout at participating restaurants on March 30," she said.

Residents can check out the Oahu Dines Web site, www.dineforlife.org, to learn where they can eat on that date to support the Life Foundation.

Restaurants interested in participating can get more information from the Web site or by calling Pudwill at 521-2437, ext. 250.
