Hannemann, isle
personalities turn out
for hot SOS concert

The Society of Seven and the group's new vocal queen Lani Misalucha put on four sold-out concerts at the Hawaii Theatre last weekend. Mayor Mufi Hannemann welcomed the highly polished act home from Vegas Friday with a proclamation. The SOS, now based in Vegas, stuck mainly to songs, skits, comedy, and capsules of Broadway shows that made the sizzling vocal-instrumental act an isle favorite for more than 35 years. The friendly crowd cheered and applauded every number. Many show-biz personalities were in the opening-night audience. Gary Bautista got laughs with his gay approach to Al Waterson, who was in the front row. SOS leader Tony Ruivivar, who holds everything together, acknowledged his "golfing buddies" Jimmy Borges and Augie Rey. Melveen Leed, Robin Mann, Kimo Kahoano, Emme Tomimbang and Carlos Barboza were also in Friday's crowd. Lani is a strong addition to the act. She has tremendous range and can impersonate stars such as Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and others. She also has a good grip on comedy. She and Gary were terrific on two operatic arias. Bert Sagum, besides Tony the only other SOS original member, was a hit walking a lioness prop in the "Lion King" number. Other SOS members are: Hoku Low, Wayne Wakai, Roy Guerzo and Randy Abellar. Amanda was in the pink on her birthday

Pink was the theme of Amanda Abe's birthday party at Jany Cataldo's luxury Colony Surf pad Saturday. Friends chipped in to give her pink diamond earrings. Guests were asked to wear pink and pink champagne kept people bubbly. More fun at Bistro followed. Erika Jorgenson came from California for the party. Carole Brooks was a designated driver ...

Waikoloa Development Prez Thos and Robin Rohr were at the recent AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and rubbed shoulders with celebrity friends including Clint and Dina Eastwood. Robin says she and Dina are members of the "Golf Widows" Club who have no problems with their husbands' love affair with the sport. Thos didn't play in the prestigious pro-am this year his but his brother, Jim, did ...
