Society of Seven,
Misalucha put on
spectacular show

The Society of Seven and Lisa Misalucha put on a spectacular show Saturday night at the Hawaii Theatre. I vaguely remember original SOS members Tony Ruivivar and Bert Sagum from their earlier days when my mom, Patricia Ramos, a huge SOS fan, took me to their shows in Waikiki. This time, I took my mom to see them perform. Memories of Sagum's antics slowly came back to me as I watched the show. The group kept the crowd entertained with oldies imitations of the Rat Pack, Elvis and others, and Misalucha brought things up to date with imitations of Britney Spears, Shania Twain and Beyoncé. Costumes used for "The Lion King" and "Phantom of the Opera" segments were beautiful and Misalucha's gowns were gorgeous. I was amazed by Gary Bautista's ability to walk in what looked like 4-inch platforms for his Cher impersonation. I have female friends who can't even stand in those type of shoes. Ruivivar said the group will return to Las Vegas for a nine-month stint at Bally's beginning at the end of March. ... Spotted in the audience that evening were Melveen Leed and Jason Scott Lee. ... Other sightings earlier this month: "Lost" co-stars Dominic Monaghan and Evangeline Lilly enjoying a quiet dinner together at Morton's Steakhouse in Ala Moana Center and, on a separate occasion, the show's producers also paid a visit to the restaurant. Finally, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was seen around town last week. ...

The professional football players couldn't finish the tons of food they were offered at the Pro Bowl Prayer Breakfast and Tailgate Party a couple of weeks ago. So what happened to all that ono food? Aloha Harvest picked up the first 500 pounds of leftovers from the breakfast and within a few hours the Ohia Center for Women and Children of Domestic Violence and the Kau Kau Wagon that serves the homeless people in Aala Park were serving donuts, bagels and trays of fresh fruit to the hungry. The next day, another 500 pounds of food was delivered to Celtic House (to feed the needy in downtown Honolulu) and Angel Ministries (serving the homeless on the Waianae Coast). Aloha Harvest executive director Chris Chun and National Football League Environmental Program director Jack Groh made the sharing possible. ...
