2 men rob Kapiolani KFC
armed with rifle and pistol

No one is hurt by the masked intruders

Honolulu Police were looking for two masked men who staged a daring armed-robbery of an Ala Moana fast-food restaurant overnight.

Police said that at about 1:35 a.m. the manager of the KFC at 1470 Kapiolani Blvd., noticed that the front door was damaged so he went to investigate.

The restaurant, across from Ala Moana Center, was closed at the time. Its normal business hours are 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The glass door had a spider-web type crack on it.

Police said that when the manager opened the door, two armed men who had apparently been hiding nearby approached him and entered the restaurant.

The suspects fled the scene after taking an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

No one was hurt and it is unclear whether there was anyone else in the restaurant besides the manager.

The manager described both suspects as being six feet tall, having medium builds, and wearing dark long sleeve shirts, dark long pants, and black ski masks.

One suspect was armed with a rifle while the other was armed with a handgun, police said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 911, or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.
