Isle stars in past years
missed out on Grammy
recognition

It's wonderful that a Best Hawaiian Music Album with lyrics mainly in Hawaiian will finally be included in the Grammys. The 47th Grammy Awards show will be held in L.A. tomorrow. Island nominees are: The Brothers Cazimero, Amy Gilliom and Willie K, Keali'i Reichel, Ho'okena and Charles Brotman. But it's unfortunate that many Hawaiian singers and musicans over the past 47 years never had a chance to be recognized. And certainly Don Ho deserves some kind of honor. He's the man who put island music on the map and opened the door nationally for Hawaiian acts. The new category should spur isle acts to make Hawaiian albums ...
