"Polynesian Power: Islanders in Pro Football" screens today.


"Polynesian Power: Islanders in Pro Football," a documentary chronicling the ascent of Polynesians in American football, will have its world broadcast during a screening party running from 1:30 to 5 p.m. today at All Star Hawaii. The documentary will screen at 3 p.m. Admission is $10.

The film by Jeremy Spear and Robert Pennington, chronicles the personal journeys of two Samoan athletes, Pisa Tinoisamoa and Isaac Sopoanga, and the cultural grounding that defines their pursuits of athletic glory.

The film, narrated by The Rock, also features original music by TOA and Tama Waipara, with additional tracks by Boo-Yaa Tribe, Kupa'aina, Tribal Soul, Owana Salazar, Jamoa Jam, King Kapisi and Trinity Roots. Also featured is the University of Hawaii football program.

ESPN will also air the documentary to coincide with the NFL Pro Bowl taking place in Hawaii this weekend.

Air dates are: 3 p.m. tomorrow and 9 a.m. Sunday on ESPN2, and 10:30 a.m. Feb. 28 on ESPN.
