Mark Pinkosh shared a humorous and poignant look at his life and the world Thursday to a sold out crowd at The ARTS at Marks Garage. The actor and playwright talked about growing up haole in Hawaii, his life as a lush, and the wisdom of Auntie Elenore. "Haole Boy 2: Haole-er Than Thou!" continues at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Call 521-9699. ... I enjoyed "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" Saturday better than 2003's "Piglet's Big Movie." "Heffalump" opens Friday and will be a treat for all ages. Nine-year-old Jason Bayang of Hoala School won the movie's soundtrack and trading cards, and a Heffalump book when he correctly named Eeyore's continuing problem. (For those who don't know, his tail keeps falling off.) ... Gene Kaneapua and fiancee Analani Hightower rooted for the losing team at 93.1 KQMQ and 102.7 da bomb's Super Bowl party at Rumour's Sunday but they looked good doing it. Kaneapua, who donned the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb's jersey, was in full uniform, complete with helmet, while Hightower dressed like a referee. "I'm a true fan," Kaneapua said. Kaneapua won the Coors Light cheering contest and walked away with a cooler. ... And while we're on the topic of winning, Lilia Duran, Madeline Constantino, Shonna Moscho, Melodie Ocol and Lita Caralos were awarded with the D. Lau Family Scholarship from the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific Foundation. The five winners are working toward a nursing degreeat Kapiolani Community College. ... And, St. Andrew's Priory student Madeleine Sherman, 7, got to meet Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona during a presentation at the State Capitol when he proclaimed Jan. 27 Private Schools' Day. ...

There was a rush to do good at the Fighting Eel sample sale to benefit tsunami relief, or maybe people just wanted to look good. Local designers Rona Awber and Lan Chung said shoppers were waiting for them at noon Sunday outside the Bliss Bar when the sale wasn't scheduled to start until 1 p.m. The sale raised $3,115 for UNICEF's Tsunami Relief Efforts. ... Aveda Salon & Spa at Ala Moana Center raised $1,200 at its tsunami relief silent auction, which ended Sunday. Proceeds will be matched by Aveda Corp. ... La Pietra is holding a tsunami aid benefit at 2 p.m. Sunday. Scheduled to perform are its students plus Martin Denny, Azure McCall, Shari Lynn, Jimmy Borges, Gabe Baltazar and Wade Cambern. Tickets are $25 to $35 and all proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund. Call 922-2744. ...
