Mililani draws No. 1
boys soccer seed

Mililani tries for a fifth straight state crown this week in the Meadow Gold Dairies Boys Soccer State Championship on Maui.

The Trojans (10-0-2) won their fourth straight Oahu Interscholastic Association championship on Saturday and were awarded the No. 1 state seed by the Hawaii High School Athletic Association yesterday.

Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Iolani (10-0-4) is the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 King Kekaulike (7-1-1), the Maui champ, and No. 4 Hawaii Prep (16-0), the Big Island titlist.

Undefeated Waimea (5-0-2), the Kauai Interscholastic Federation winner, is unseeded.

The Menehunes open Wednesday against Kaiser (8-3-3).

In other first-round games Wednesday, OIA runner-up Leilehua (9-3-1) takes on a challenge from Kealakehe (13-3), Pearl City (9-4) plays Honokaa (12-4), and Kamehameha (10-3-1) meets Kapolei (9-1-2).

All games will be played at Kamehameha-Maui in Pukalani.

The tournament continues through the championship game Saturday at 8 p.m.

The four seeded teams open on Thursday: Mililani takes on the Waimea-Kaiser winner, Iolani plays the Pearl City-Honokaa victor, Hawaii Prep meets the Kamehameha-Kapolei survivor, and King Kekaulike goes up against the Leilehua-Kealakehe winner.
