BOOKSHELF
Isle PagesReleases from Hawaii authorsPresented this week is a slew of large-format, colorful children's books, with pride of place going to Newsome's classically clever "Machine," a modern twist on the concept of stone soup. Robinson's artwork is simply extraordinary. Cabanting weighs in with a Daliesque alphabet book, and writer/artist Toki's parables of local adventure will remind one of P. Craig Russell's best. None of these speak down to children or suck up to adults.
