A 36-year-old Big Island man who allegedly distributed crystal methamphetamine from his Banyan Drive hotel room has been charged with several drug counts, police said.

Ludivico Lazo of Papaikou is being held in Hilo in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Lazo was charged Wednesday with one count of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, two counts of third-degree drug promotion and three counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police raided Lazo's hotel room Monday afternoon and seized 17.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a scale. The seized drugs had an estimated street value of $7,000, police said.

A second man arrested at the scene was released, pending an investigation.
