FOUR STARS for "Hotel Rwanda" and bravo to Oscar-nominated Don Cheadle, up for Best Actor for his portrayal of Paul Rusesabagina, a real-life hero who saved more than 1,200 people from extermination in Rwanda in 1994. The "civilized world," including the United States, ignored the slaughter as radical Hutus killed almost 1 million Tutsis and some Hutu moderates. Director/screenwriter Terry George captures the horror of the mass killings, and Rusesabagina's quiet heroism, in powerful and compelling style. "Hotel Rwanda" should be shown annually in high schools nationwide as part of the basic curriculum on 20th century history, racism and genocide. The movie opens here tomorrow ...
