WELL, HELLO, CAROL!: Honolulu City Council Chairman Donovan Dela Cruz, left, presented Carol Channing with a welcoming proclamation, and producer Dean M. Shibuya enjoyed a glass of champagne moments before Channing was mobbed by autograph seekers at a post-show reception at the Hawaii Theatre on Friday. It was the most disorderly celebrity meet-and-greet here in years, and Channing looked quite frazzled by the time her handlers got her out of it.

GREAT DESSERTS!: Matthew Pennaz, left, and Kirsten Dixon met Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom and John Austin near one of the dessert tables at the Channing reception. People who had mobbed Channing for autographs left after she was escorted out of the room, and that left plenty of tasty desserts for partyers who stayed to socialize among themselves. Gilliom didn't eat, though, explaining that she's on a diet until she goes to Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards next month.

JESSE'S THE MAN!: Duke's Canoe Club bartender Jesse Greenleaf, left, was congratulated by Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom and John Austin on winning the Grammy Awards Drink Contest at the Outrigger Waikiki on Wednesday. Greenleaf's winning drink, "Waterfall," was inspired by a song on Gilliom's album with Willie K, "Amy & Willie LIVE."

HANGIN' OUT: Erwin Vidal, second from left, didn't win the Grammy Awards Drink Contest, but had a good time anyway after the winner was announced. Christian Yrizarry, left, provided music for the intimate open-bar heavy-pupu party. Hailama Farden, third from left, and Jay Larrin were two of the celebrity guests.

FOUR STARS FOR "HOTEL RWANDA": Faye Kennedy, left, Leonard Piggee, Sandra Simms, Ash Ruggiero, Lindsey Chun-Hori and Alphonso Braggs were part of the capacity crowd that attended an advance screening of "Hotel Rwanda" at Dole Cannery on Wednesday. No question about it, the compelling real-life drama deserves a four-star rating.
