The Manoa East/West Classified Swim Meet was held yesterday at the Coach Harry M. Mamizuka Swimming Complex at the Manoa Valley District Park. About 450 swimmers from Oahu participated. Matthew Velasco, from Punahou Aquatics, came up for air swimming in the 100-meter butterfly heat, which he won in 1:27.21.

The Honolulu Police Department put on "Safety Tips for Chinatown" yesterday, a presentation to residents on how to avoid becoming a crime victim. The presentation was given with the help of a translator in the New Empress Restaurant in the Chinese Cultural Plaza. Here, attendees lined up for free biscuits at the end of the talk.
