Professional journalists
internships seek applicants

Hawaii's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is offering six full-time and two part-time paid summer internships in print journalism, broadcast journalism and public relations.

Applicants must be Hawaii residents who are either enrolled in a mainland university or a Hawaii institution of higher learning. Applicants must also be college sophomores by June 2005.

Full-time internships will last 10 weeks, and interns will earn $3,250. They are being offered at: Pacific Business News, Honolulu Magazine, Hawaii Business Magazine, Trade Publishing Co.; Alexander & Baldwin Inc.; and Bright Light Marketing Group.

Part-time internships, which will last eight weeks, are available at KGMB Channel 9 and KHNL Channel 8. Part-time interns will earn $1,500, and work 27-hour weeks.

Applicants must submit an application form, letter of introduction, samples of work and a copy of a college transcript. Applications should be postmarked by March 1, and mailed to: Internship Committee, SPJ-Hawaii Chapter; P.O. Box 3141, Honolulu 96802.
