13 capture Hawaii boxing titlesThirteen boxers won Hawaii State/Regional Boxing Championship titles to advance to the 2005 U.S. Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo.Hawaii's men's winners were: Amadeo Ezzo-White (119-pound class), Isaac Arasato (132), Jeffrey Pelen Jr. (141), Brent Rodrigues (152), Shawn Murphy (165), Filipo Toelau (178), Ryan Bolen (201) and Tinei Su'a (over 201). The women's winners were: Colleen Loo (101), Ilima Vicente (132), Tiana Over (145), Jenna-Lyn Oda (154), Chanelle Valdez. The U.S. Championships are March 13-20.
Rainbow Wahine drop spring tennis openerIllinois defeated Hawaii 6-1 in the spring season tennis opener at the UH Tennis Complex yesterday.Kimberly Curtis was the lone Rainbow Wahine singles winner, defeating Anastasia Sokolova 7-6 (5), 6-0. Curtis and teammate Choloe Bihag also picked up Hawaii's lone doubles win, an 8-4 victory over Sokolova and Momei Qu. Hawaii's Lauren Fitzgerald, ranked No. 94 nationally, dropped a 6-2, 6-3 match to No. 111 Cynthya Goulet. Illinois is ranked 33rd in the nation.
