Tan memorial service set for Wednesday

The memorial service for Kapolei football player Paul "Ikaika" Michael Tan Jr. will be held Wednesday at the Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary.

Tan, a 2004 Star-Bulletin honorable-mention all-state selection, died from injuries he suffered in a one-car accident Jan. 5. The 17-year-old student-athlete was a standout at Kapolei in football, wrestling and track.

He is survived by his fianceé Nicole Tamashiro, daughter Riley Tan, parents Paul and Eileen Tan Jr., sister Chaelynn Tan; grandparents Walter and Patricia Davis, Anthony and Francine Tan; aunts Marie Tan, Mary Davis, Marylyn Angelo, Napua Guerrero, Janelle Bannister, Janne Davis and Leilani Tablas; uncles Peter Tan, Anthony Tan Jr., Lawrence Freitas, Walter Davis Jr., John Cruz and Rick Angelo Sr.

The SGI service will be held at 4:45 p.m. at the Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m., with the program to follow at 6:30 p.m.

The family requests that all football players of any school wear their jerseys for the service.
