WWE brings grapplers
back to isles

The superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment return to Honolulu next month with a "Raw and Smackdown Supershow" at the Blaisdell Arena on Feb. 1.

No indication that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will appear at the house show (he hasn't been seen on WWE programming in months), but local fans will get to see a number of wrestlers live for the first time.

Among the highlights of the nine-match card: WWE Heavyweight Champion Triple H will face off against Randy Orton and Batista in a three-way dance; John Cena will take on Kurt Angle for the U.S. Championship; and Shawn Michaels goes up against Ric Flair.

Ticket prices range from $25 to $100 and will go on sale Saturday at 9 a.m. While I'm happy to see the WWE return to Honolulu, it's kind of a slap in the face after Sunday's "New Year's Revolution" pay-per-view took place in Puerto Rico. It could have (and should have) happened here instead ...

FIRST IT was "Rebel Rebel" at Club Pauahi. Now, the Sisters in Sound's monthly "Escape" party at Indigo is pau.

After almost two years downtown, the ladies decided to pull the plug and focus on one-time parties at different venues. You won't have to wait long for the next SIS gig -- "Tag" is scheduled for Friday night at thirtyninehotel, with DJ Marloca leading a tag team session on four turntables with DJs Risup, Juando, K-ing and Lady J. Hosting the fun is Jonah thee Whale, and there will be art exhibitions by Melon James, Meaneken and Mahabohs along with a dance performance by Roobee.

And what's going to happen with Saturdays at Indigo? According to promotions guy Bryan Lew, the Nocturnal Sound Krew has joined forces with Pacific Sounds Outernational to present "Special Blend" every week ...

BAD NEWS for fans of Richard Cheese -- this weekend's shows at the Wave Waikiki were cancelled. No word on when they'll be rescheduled ... Sources tell me that Bowling for Soup will play at Pipeline on Feb. 23, and a new promotions team called the Bamp Project will bring Steel Pulse to the Waikiki Shell in March ... Add KHON's Kanoa Leahey to the list of satisfied "Club 25" visitors. He visited for the first time on Friday and spent the night chilling in a booth with friends after being greeted by promoter Ian Fernandez ...
