The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Barnwell still rising
Barnwell Industries Inc., the Honolulu-based company that has gas and oil exploration operations in Canada, led the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index this week with a gain of 7.6 percent to close at $79.75.
The company was followed by Big Island nut grower ML Macadamia Orchards LP, with a slight uptick of 0.9 percent to close at $5.63.
The parent of Hawaiian Airlines trailed the pack with a loss of 5.4 percent to close at $6.46. Hawaiian Holdings Inc., whose stock price more than doubled last year, is part of plan to reorganize the bankrupt carrier
