Flood victims can seek SBA's help

Businesses and residents hit by heavy flooding in Manoa Valley in late October can seek assistance starting next week from the U.S. Small Business Administration, which will be in the area.

The SBA will be at the state's Manoa Innovation Center at 2800 Woodlawn Drive from Tuesday until Jan. 18, which is the deadline to submit an application for a loan to recover from property loss.

As of Dec. 3, the SBA has approved almost $61,000 in low-interest disaster loans, according to its Web site.

Loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged real estate, and loans up to $40,000 are available to replace personal property. Businesses can borrow up to $1.5 million. Those who cannot visit the SBA in person can mail applications to SBA Disaster Area 4, P.O. Box 419004, Sacramento, CA 95841-9004.
