Kai named All-West Region for third year

Natasha Kai has been named to the Soccer Buzz All-West Region second team as selected by NCAA Division I coaches and the Soccer Buzz staff. This is the third consecutive year Kai has earned all-region honors.

Last month the junior striker was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of American All-West Region second team.

Tickets on sale for pro soccer match

Aloha Soccer Cup tickets for the Feb. 26 professional soccer match between DC United and the Los Angeles Galaxy are on sale at Aloha Stadium and the University of Hawaii ticket offices.

DC United is the reigning Major League Soccer champion, winning its fourth title last fall with a 3-2 victory over Kansas City.

Tickets also can be purchased at First Hawaiian Bank on behalf of Friends of Hawaii charities, by telephone at 944-2697 and at etickethawaii.com.

The cost is $20 for general admission with reserved seating tickets ranging from $28 to $60.

Vulcans keep winning

Osadonor Esene scored 26 points and Alex Cabagnot added 17 as UH-Hilo beat Montana State-Billings last night at Hilo.

The Vulcans (14-1, 2-1 PacWest) made 19 free throws and the Yellow Jackets (8-3, 0-3) only attempted 20. Buddy Windy Boy led MSUB with 19 points.

Silverswords win: Dustin Mittelsteadt scored a game-high 25 points as Chaminade defeated Western New Mexico 93-83 last night at McCabe Gym.

Dylan McCune added 16 points while Christopher Reaves dished out 10 assists for Chaminade, who improved to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in PacWest play with the win. Mike Sells scored 17 points and Trey Clarkson 16 to lead the Mustangs.
