UH to honor military at Jan. 8 basketball game

The Hawaii men's basketball team's game against San Jose State on Jan. 8 has been designated as "Military Night," with representatives of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard being recognized during a halftime ceremony.

The honorees will be selected by their respctive military branches for their performance and volunteer services in their communities.

Members of the armed services, retirees and Department of Defense civilians will receive two tickets for the price of one by presenting their military ID when purchasing their tickets at the Stan Sheriff Center box office.

Tip-off for the Western Athletic Conference game is set for 7:05 p.m.

Aoki to appear at Honolulu Country Club

Isao Aoki, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, will appear in a tournament hosted by Honolulu Country Club on Jan. 21.

The tournament is limited to 18 foursomes, with participants able to play a hole with Aoki, who won the1983 Hawaiian Open. The entry fee is $250 per person for a foursome and $300 for individuals.
