Mayor Jeremy Harris will be signing copies of his new soft-cover book, "Renaissance of Honolulu," which cost the city and taxpayers $75,000 to print.
About 5,000 copies of the book were printed, city Managing Director Ben Lee said last week before Harris' farewell address after 10 years in office.
The book covers Harris' "quest to revitalize Oahu and make Honolulu a model sustainable city," according to a city news release.
As part of the 100-year anniversary of the creation of the City and County of Honolulu, the book "highlights the mistakes made over the years and efforts to restore Honolulu as a great place in which to live," the release continues.
The 224-page publication with color photos will be sold in bookstores for $19.95. Proceeds will go to the city's general fund.
Lee said the city should be able to recoup its investment if the book sells.
Harris' book signings:
» 6 p.m. Tuesday at Barnes & Noble in Kahala Mall.
» Noon Wednesday at Ward Centre's Borders Books Music & Cafe.
» 7 p.m. Wednesday at Waikele's Borders Books Music & Cafe.
» Noon Thursday at Bestsellers in Tamarind Square.
The 54-year-old Harris delivered his farewell speech at the Mission Memorial Auditorium next to Honolulu on Thursday night. The city paid KHON-TV between $3,000 and $4,000 to have the speech televised live, officials have said.
