Models have weekend
looking good
This weekend promises to be a big one for import model fans.
What, that's not a good enough reason to go out? Well, the parties these ladies are associated with should be pretty good, too ...
TONIGHT AT Pipeline Cafe, DJ Babu returns to the island to help Green Bottle Productions celebrate the release of their new DVD, "Impaired." MC Trace will host, and DJs Mixmaster B and Jimmy Taco will get things heated before Babu represents for his Dilated Peoples and Beat Junkies crews.
Oh, and the import model connection? Christine Mendoza and Sasha Singleton will be dancing onstage ...
ON SATURDAY, the fun takes place at the Blaisdell Center during the day before moving back to Pipeline Cafe that evening.
From noon to 7 p.m. at the Blaisdell, "Hot Import Daze" will feature the best and brightest from the import scene, with former Hawaii resident DJ Diamond returning home for an exclusive set alongside DJ Lady Tribe. Mia Guzman will also make an appearance.
That night at Pipeline, MySpace.com co-founder Tom Anderson is back in town for the second "official" MySpace party this year.
Sick Dog Productions and Artist Groove Network helped Anderson line up some quality entertainment for the evening -- Emirc, Omega 6, Seph1 and Jennifer Johns will perform, with DJs Sub-Zero, Sovern T, Dunza, Liloa, Ryan Sean, Azia and others spinning wax.
And don't forget about the special appearances by Tila Nguyen and Aiko Tanaka ...
AND SINCE school is out for the holidays, Sunday night is a busy one this weekend ... If you can brave Pipeline for a third time, don't miss Goapele live in concert. She'll be joined by DJs D Sharp and Namane, and I'm also told the talented DJ Jrama will be in the house ... Blue Tropix will host the all-ages "Winter Recess" party that night. Imagery Division and 4Corners Hawaii present a one-on-one B-Boy battle, with DJs Audissey and Sir Styles manning the decks and Nomadd on mic control ... Check out the Living Room for the Christmas edition of "Club DeVille," with DJs G-Dog, Delve and Zack Morse. A VIP reception is scheduled early, with doors opening to the public at 11 p.m. ...
