Club caters to people
25 and older

Tired of going to clubs where the crowd is filled with people who were in Kindergarten the same year you graduated from high school?

Friday nights are going upscale at Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar, as IMF Visions introduces "Club25" to the masses this week.

"I think Honolulu's ready for something like this," says promoter Ian Fernandez. "It's something for an older, more mature crowd ... (who) have professional careers."

As the name of the party implies, entry is limited to those born before 1980. Ladies will receive complimentary roses, and there will be free Godiva chocolate and wine tasting to go with half-priced sushi before 1 a.m.

Doors open at 10 tomorrow night, with DJ Victor E in the mix and 102.7 Da Bomb's Sam the Man on mic control. Cover is $20; e-mail club25vip@yahoo.com for details on VIP seating packages ...

AS A way of saying mahalo to the surrounding community, the Polynesian Cultural Center presents the "Hawaiian Holiday Jam" tomorrow night at 8 p.m. Local favorites B.E.T. will perform first on the stage at PCC's Hale Aloha Theatre. They'll be followed by the Opihi Pickers around 9:30 p.m.

Tickets for the concert are just $8 each (it's free for PCC annual pass holders); call 293-3333 ...

OVER IN Chinatown, art gallery / coffee shop On the River takes it to the Bay Area on Saturday with "Oaktown on the River."

Representing Cali in Hawaii is hip-hop act Psychokinetics; they'll be joined by Oakland-based singer / songwriter and spoken word poet Jennifer Johns and artists Sam Clemens and Steve Rosenthal. DJ A2Z will spin between sets, and On the River owner Jonathan Heraux will also join his bandmates from Quadraphonix for a set. Doors open at 8 p.m. for this one ...

LOOKING FOR a great holiday gift for friends and family living on the mainland? Consider sending a copy of Augie Tulba's new comedy DVD, out in stores this week.

Taped before a sold out crowd at the Hawaii Theatre in September, the DVD also features interview segments with family and home videos of the comic.

Besides some minor audio and video glitches, the DVD is a great way to catch a talented comedian giving it his all in front of a hometown audience. Tulba is in Las Vegas for a gig tonight, but you can catch him live next Wednesday with Lanai at Brew Moon starting at 8:30 p.m. ...
