Artist Hiroshi Tagami and comedian Jonathan Winters are pals. The comic called the local artist and commissioned him to do an elephant painting and insisted on paying for it. But Tagami said no way, because Winters is also an artist and had given Tagami one of his drawings. Kanoe Miller has been the resident hula dancer for many years. It would be difficult to find anyone better. Last Saturday she danced to the music of Paahana -- Pakala Fernandes, Doug Tolentino and Kaipo Kukahiko. Kaipo also does an occasional male hula.
