Cyclist is critically hurt after collision with car

A 24-year-old motorcycle driver was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition yesterday after an accident fronting the entrance of Leeward Community College, police said.

The accident happened at about 4:40 p.m. and involved a motorcycle and a car. Police were still investigating how the crash occurred last night, and could not provide more details.

The car's driver was uninjured in the accident, an Emergency Medical Services supervisor said.

Man who allegedly stabbed ex is charged

A 36-year-old man was charged with second-degree attempted murder Friday for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend Wednesday morning with a 10-inch-long knife at a Waipahu condominium.

Ricky Ratin Teodosio allegedly stabbed 27-year-old Rosalina Cautivo while both were in the driveway of Su Casa condominiums, 94-245 Leowahine St. The attack happened about 7:42 a.m.

Cautivo was last listed in critical condition at the Queen's Medical Center.

Police said Teodosio and Cautivo had been in a relationship and have two children, but broke up about year ago.

Sailor breaks ankle in return from hike

A sailor was injured yesterday while hiking above Kahana Bay, fire officials said.

The man, of the USS Lincoln, broke his ankle and sustained other minor injuries while hiking with a friend. A fire department helicopter airlifted him to safety and he was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The incident happened about 6 p.m., while the man was coming back down from the hike.

Charges filed against man who fired rifle

CAPTAIN COOK, Hawaii » Charges have been filed against a Big Island man accused of firing a rifle in a residential area.

An investigation determined Gregory Driessen, 39, of Hawaiian Ocean Views Estates in Kau, had a previous conviction that prohibited him from being in possession of any firearm, police said yesterday.

Driessen was charged Friday with reckless endangering, prohibited ownership of a firearm, having no firearm registration and having no permit to acquire a firearm. He was being held in the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $6,500 bail.

Driessen was arrested by officers responding to a call of numerous gunshots being fired.

A 32-caliber Winchester rifle and ammunition were recovered by officers, they said.
