WELCOME TO THE J LOUNGE!: Gary Capusang joined the musicians and dancers of Sonny Ching's Halau Na Mamo O Pu'uanahulu as they performed for the J Salon "lst birthday luau" on Sunday. Capusang and his business partner, Joe Randazzo, celebrated their salon's anniversary with retro "tiki lounge" music programmed by DJ Jeremy VerStrat before Ching's halau took over. Capusang was backed by Helene Woodward, Sam Kaina and Mark Tang as he danced a hula to "He Aloha No O Waianae."

AFTER GARY'S HULA: J Salon receptionist Jenn, left, and stylists Jessee Jeuck, single-monickered Jaime, and Seth Silver enjoyed the J Salon luau with salon co-owners Joe Randazzo and Gary Capusang. Exotic drinks by Bacardi, plastic leis, a cosmopolitan heavy pupu buffet and a beautiful solo hula by Miss Aloha Hula 2003 Jennifer Oyama helped make the party a good one.

DOING IT RIGHT: Toa celebrated the release of its new CD, "Silence," with a "listening party" for local media and music industry VIPS at Rainforest Studio in Nu'uanu Monday evening. The group -- brothers Kalili, left, Moepulou, Donny, Steve and Norris Alaiasa -- performed a capella while their guests enjoyed soft drinks and a heavy pupu buffet.

GOTTA MOVE THOSE REFRIGERATORS ...: Andy Bumatai, front, let Tushar Dubey of Good Kine Inc., left, and Lee Schultz do the heavy lifting when they delivered a set of "Andy Bumatai's Pidgin on da Fridge" refrigerator magnets to the Star-Bulletin on Monday. In the tradition of his old-time manager, Kimo Wilder McVay, Bumatai decided the best way to deliver the magnets was attached to a working refrigerator. Half the profits from the sale of the magnets will be donated to local charities.
