Wahiawa, Whitmore
lose water from pump

Wahiawa and Whitmore Village residents are urged to conserve water until further notice because of a pump failure last night.
The pump, one of two that feed the area, broke about 8 p.m., according to Tracy Burgo, Board of Water Supply spokeswoman.
The pump is several hundred feet underground and may take a while to fix, according to Burgo.
But water officials say they are working as fast as they can on the problem. First, they have to find a contractor who can fix the pump.
In the meantime, water officials are looking for "alternate solutions," Burgo said.
Those solutions could mean making system adjustments, including finding other sources of water for some areas supplied by the Wahiawa pumps.
Residents are asked to use water only for essential purposes such as drinking, cooking and personal hygiene and hold off on things like laundry, watering lawns and washing cars.
