Star-Bulletin Index
The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Record week
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. became the highlight of the performance of local companies in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index this week as it rose 8.1 percent to an all-time high of $41.16. A&B, the second-best performer in the index, last month reported a 14.3 percent gain in third-quarter earnings.
Bank of Hawaii Corp., which rose 3 percent to $50.38, also closed the week at an all-time high.
Penny stock Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. had the biggest percentage gain as it rose 12.5 percent to 1.8 cents.
