Top seed upset at Waikoloa USTA Futures

Top seed Prakash Amritraj was upset by Julien Cassaigne 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in a three-hour, 19-minute match yesterday in the second day of the Hilton Waikoloa Village Futures Tennis Tournament.

Cassiagne praised Amritraj, the former NCAA Championships Final MVP for 2002 national champion Southern California.

Meanwhile, Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 seeds Vladimir Pavicevic, Zack Fleishman, Wayne Odesnik and John-Paul Fruttero all advanced yesterday.

Hawaii junior Bryon Weinberg was eliminated by Brendan Evans Tuesday in a main draw match.

Action continues today and runs through Sunday.

Wakeboard championship on Kauai

The U.S. Open Wakeboard Championship will be held on Nov. 13 to 14 at Wailua River Sate Park on Kauai.

Highlighting the competition are Parks Bonifay, ranked No. 1 in the world and also the two-time defending Pro Wakeboard Tour champion, and Tino Satori, the defending U.S. Open champion.
