Pilots to protest Hawaiian Air planHawaiian Airlines' pilots, upset with their treatment under the company's proposed reorganization plan, are planning a protest at Honolulu Airport tomorrow that will follow the airline's 75th anniversary celebration today. The protest by members of the Air Line Pilots Association's Hawaiian Airlines unit will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the interisland terminal. Today's anniversary event in Hawaiian Airlines' ticket lobby was scheduled to include roving musicians and a birthday cake to mark the airline's inaugural flight on Nov. 11, 1929. Capt. Jim Giddings, negotiating committee chairman of Hawaiian's ALPA unit, said the protest is a way to send a message to management that the reorganization plan is unfair to pilots. "Management is using Hawaiian Airlines' reorganization plan to squeeze unjustified concessions from employees," Giddings said.
