‘29 Down’ will
film on Oahu

The ink isn't quite dry yet, but "29 Down," a new series on Discovery Kids, is expected to begin filming on Oahu next month for 13 programs, Hawaii and mainland sources said. The story follows a teenage group stranded on a deserted Pacific island. A majority of the filming will be done in rain forests. Producer Stan Rogow ("State of Grace," "Lizzie McGuire," "The Clan of the Cave Bear") will exec produce. He declined comment. There are several Hawaii attachments to the project ... Lana Stewart and George Hamilton will tape a VH1 special here this month. The duo will also be joined in the special -- and a hoped-for series -- with their respective children ages 4 to 28 ...

"North Shore's" move from Monday to Thursday, an hour later, and following Fox hit "The O.C." -- not to mention the addition of Shannen Doherty -- did little to spike the hotel drama's ratings. The time-period debut got a 2.0/5 in adults 18 to 49, (4.9 million viewers overall) placing it third in most categories. "North Shore" will finish its 22-episode filming here Jan. 15. Producers expect to know early next month whether the series will return for a second season ...

Director/writer John Stockwell is still waiting to hear from WB execs whether his "Rocky Point" pilot has been picked up as a series. A decision is expected soon ... Rumor: The Imagine Entertainment/Universal pic "Magnum, P.I." may be competing with the U's film version of "Miami Vice" in getting made first. One source says budgets for the films are in the $100-million to $120-million range. Brett Johnson, Universal's VP/production who worked on Stockwell's "Blue Crush," is on board the "Magnum" film ... ABC's "Lost" episode last week was easily the night's No. 1 program among adults 18 to 49 (6.7 rating/17 share) and overall audience (18.73 million), adding 2 million viewers from the previous week for its largest showing ever ...

"Cowboy U: Moloka'i" is the third season debut show on Nov. 19. The show, which was filmed at Molokai Ranch, features five city couples who go through an intense cowboy boot camp by two professional cowboys ...

Oops: Mathew St. Patrick ("Six Feet Under") plays Lt. Cmdr. Barker in "Tides of War." The wrong character was named here recently ...
