Sweet treatsThoughts turn toward sweets this time of year and the United Cerebral Palsy Association is happy to accommodate with its annual Dessert Fantasy fund-raiser.More than 50 treats will be offered for tasting at the event, 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pacific Beach Hotel. Dessert Fantasy began 15 years ago as a birthday celebration for the association. Tickets are $20. Call 532-6744.
Holiday how-toWindward Community College is offering a series of holiday cooking classes beginning this weekend. Chef Diane Nazarro leads the classes, providing samples and recipes.Classes begin tomorrow. They run 5 to 7 p.m. in the school's Ko'olau Kafe. Class size is limited to 10. Call 235-7433. Basic Knife-Sharpening: Learn to handle knives and cut food professionally; tomorrow. Cost is $26, including a sampler of Ko'olau Kafe soups to take home. Deep-Fried Turkey: Class covers frying and kalua-ing a turkey, turkey-carving, plus how to make stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy; Nov. 9. Cost is $33. Wine-tasting benefitTour the globe in a few hours through an international selection of food and wines at "Around the World in an Evening," a fund-raiser for the Hawaii Foster Parent Association.The wine-tasting will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. next Wednesday at Indigo Eurasian Bistro.
