Punahou remains
at the top

There ought to be a victory parade in Hana town this week.

After all, it's only been a couple of decades since the last MIL boys volleyball championship.

Hana, unbeaten through regular-season play, swept through the MIL tournament to secure the league's top seed at the state championships.

The Dragons (11-0) also vaulted one spot in today's Star-Bulletin Boys Volleyball Top 10 to No. 8.

Unbeaten Punahou remained atop the list with all nine first-place votes. Maryknoll, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit to oust University from the Interscholastic League of Honolulu tournament, returned to the poll at No. 9.

Punahou's girls team remained entrenched at No. 1 in the Top 10 with all 18 first-place votes. The Buffanblu host Iolani in a semifinal match today, 5 p.m.

Kamehameha, which hosts Hawaii Baptist in a 5 p.m. ILH semifinal today, remained at No. 2. Moanalua and Kahuku, which advanced to the Oahu Interscholastic Association finals, follow at No. 3 and No. 4.
