Limahai confesses
The ex-beauty queen admits to
possessing $1,000 worth of drugs
Former Miss Hawaii USA Tiffini Limahai has admitted to possessing crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia when she was arrested in September.
Limahai, formerly Tiffini Hercules, 30, pleaded guilty yesterday in Circuit Court to second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Her attorney, Scott Collins, said it was in Limahai's best interests to plead to the charges because she is dealing with many other issues.
Limahai was arrested along with her husband, John Limahai Jr., on Sept. 14 as part of a three-month drug investigation.
About $1,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine, small quantities of rock cocaine and marijuana, and a digital scale were found in a backpack that she was seen discarding when officers moved in to arrest the couple in Kailua, police said.
She faces a maximum 10 years for possessing the drugs and five years for the paraphernalia, with the possibility of extended terms.
Collins said they hope the court will grant a deferral of her guilty plea when she returns to court for sentencing in January. A deferral would enable her to request that the charge be erased from her record.
Limahai was granted supervised release about a month ago but only into a Sand Island drug treatment program, where she is doing well, Collins said.
