Star-Bulletin Index
The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Central Pacific leads
Central Pacific Financial Corp., which six weeks ago acquired rival CB Bancshares Inc., rose 6.2 percent to a 52-week high this week in leading nine other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Central Pacific, which earlier this week reported a 7.2 percent decline in third-quarter earnings largely due to merger-related expenses, closed yesterday at $30.55.
Penny stock Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. led the way with an 11.8 percent gain to 1.9 cents.
All of the Hawaii stocks posted gains for the week.
